  3. bigwhey Says:

How are you getting 7g net carbs for the recipe?

  4. bowulf Says:

Most of it is in the form of the maltodextrin in the granulated Splenda…
    .6g in Egg
    3.6g in Granulated Splenda
    2.8g in Cocoa
    .8g in Cream

  5. carapot Says:

    can I use Maple syrup?

  6. bowulf Says:

SF Maple Syrup – no the taste would be wrong.

  7. aprildawnbooks Says:

Could you use regular vanilla flavoring?

  8. bowulf Says:

You could use vanilla extract, but you would also have to sweeten it with more Splenda.

  15. LKLawson1 Says:

So, if you make something like this and you only have 5 carbs (5 + 15 = 20), then you can’t have any other proteins, etc. that day?

  16. bowulf Says:

@LKLawson1 This is roughly 7g net carbs due to the amount of granulated Splenda. Using liquid Splenda would definitely decrease it.

That would leave 13g left for the vegetables.and other items. Eating one of these does not affect the number or amount of protein you are allowed to eat that day. It only reduces the amount of net carbs left to be consumed.

  17. bowulf Says:

@LKLawson1 (sorry it also affects the amount of heavy cream too — which like cheese is a limited per day item to 1 fl. oz)

  18. bowulf Says:

    @rmnant1 Thank you!

  19. LKLawson1 Says:

@LKLawson1 I guess I don’t understand this. In induction you are supposed to eat 15 vegetable carbs, so what is left is 5 carbs. If I have bacon (1 carb) and 2 scrambled eggs (1.2 carbs) and cheese (0.8 carbs), one diet drink (1 carb), salad dressing (1 carb), this totals 5 carbs, so that’s all you get the above and the vegetables. Right? So I have dressing at lunch but I have reached 5 carbs, so I can’t have any for my dinner salad. I hope you understand what I am saying. Thanks!

  20. LKLawson1 Says:

@bowulf But 7 and 13 = 20, so you can’t have anything else? That 13 would be for vegetables because you are suppose to have 12-15 vegetables carbs a day. When you say I have 13 left for the vegs and other items, what do you mean by other items?
I wish I could send you my excel spreadsheet so I could show you what I mean. Thanks again! Linda

  21. bowulf Says:

@LKLawson1 First check out my Induction vegetable controversy video. I understand where you are coming and if you are following the 12-15 net carbs per day from vegetables new plan as opposed to 3 cups per day of salad veggies, this would consume the rest of your carbs. I followed the cups approach.

When I said 13g left for veggies and other items, say you had 3-4 oz of cheese that is 3g of carbs. Or more eggs, that’s .6g each. Avocados and olives have carbs, same with sour cream.

  22. bowulf Says:

@LKLawson1 Yep, that is why the cups approach works better for me. I think trying to nail 12-15g per day of veggies while staying below 20g per day just puts the dieter back into spreadsheet territory and makes the diet more difficult than it needs to be.

It is hard to mess up the original 3 cups (or 2/1) per day approach, and while some days might only be 10-12g of carbs, that’s fine. Check out the video on YT I referred to for more of my thoughts why 2002 beats 2010 approach.

  23. LKLawson1 Says:

@bowulf Thank you so much! I’m glad you understand what I am saying. I will look at your YTI video and I think I am going to get out my old Atkins Diet book. I don’t remember it being this complicated years ago when I went on this diet. By the way, your videos are great! Wow, you have done really well on the diet! Thank you again for answering all my questions.

  24. LKLawson1 Says:

What does YT mean? I don’t see it.

  25. bowulf Says:
