Add more color to your carbs

Low-carb diet and meat?

I have diabetes type 2 and have been losing weight by eating low-carb foods. When I added 0-carb ham I stopped losing. I eat bread each day that is only one gram carb per slice. I was eating salad and broccoli. It seems like that plan was working until I started to put the ham on my bread.

Six pieces of bread a day is only 6 carbs and 300 calories. I also put lettuce on my sandwich. Could I be eating too much lettuce? I was doing great until I started to eat the ham. I was not eating any meat at all and was losing very well.

The ham is pure ham, not that deli junk. Any suggestions. Thanks

I doubt it’s the ham. Look at the ingredients in your bread- if it has corn syrup, high fructose corn syrup or sugars, it’s the bread. Low-carb means whole grains, whole wheat and no sugars. You can’t eat too much lettuce

Its not the ham, after a while on the low carb diet your body gets use to it you have to change it up a bit and make sure your exercising , dont expect to loose weight EVERY single week you have good weeks and you WILL have bad ones.

Tip: IF your only dieting and not exercising your body is loosing muscle AND FAT, whic his NOT GOOD we need all the muscle that we can have since muscle burns the calories so make sure you ahve an exercise plan which includes at least 30 minutes of cardio everyday and 2-3 weight lifting days. Dont forget that the first 20 pounds are the EASIEST to loose after that you have to really WORK FOR IT!!!

Check and see if the ham has salt. Salt can cause some people to retain water. You have the power to answer your own question be elimnating the ham. See what happens. But remember, a stall or a platueau is a period of 6 weeks with no weight loss or loss in inches. It is possible that your body is just becoming accustomed to its new size. It could be juggling things around which is why you could be losing inches and not weight. It doesn’t seem like you are eating very much though. If you are eating 6 pieces of bread a day are you eating 3 sandwiches. You didn’t say how long you have been low carbing. Sometimes the body needs an increase in carbs by about 5 grams or so, not much. Why not gradually up your carbs by adding nuts and/or berries to your lifestyle. Personally, I don’t think it is all in the ham.
